How Do We Serve? The Patron & Patron Council

What does prepared, humble Patron leadership look like?

Lesson purpose: Provide the year's detailed Patron instruction and distinguish service-centered leadership from title or control.

Study topics

  • The Worthy Patron and his role in the OES.
  • Patron hierarchy and how to become a Patron.
  • Historic responsibilities: leadership, instruction, encouragement, protection, and guidance.
  • Supporting rather than controlling the work of the Sisters.
  • Ritualistic preparation and responsibility.
  • Why there is a Patron's Council.
  • Why Patron work falls under the King Solomon's Council.
  • The progression from Worthy Patron service into the Council.

Scripture

  • Proverbs 11:14 — In the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
  • Philippians 2:3 — In humility, esteem others better than self.
  • 1 Peter 4:10 — Use every gift in service to one another.

Council application

Patron leadership is demonstrated through preparation, instruction, encouragement, protection, wisdom, and service—not domination.

Discussion / Activity

Use scenarios involving ritual, conflict, support, and leadership. Explain what the Patron should do and the principle supporting the decision.

What Will We Leave Behind? Carrying the Legacy Forward

Will the Council be stronger because we served?

Lesson purpose: Bring the four phases together and turn the year's knowledge into commitment.

Study topics

  • Review identity, history, Solomon, partnership, preparation, guardianship, and Patron service.
  • Education and biblical instruction.
  • Ritualistic excellence and preservation.
  • Administration and consistency.
  • Leadership, mentorship, and service.
  • Preparing future Princes and Patrons.
  • Strengthening the relationship with the Queen of the South Palace.
  • Preserving history while preparing for the future.
  • Leaving the Council stronger than it was found.

  • Proverbs 13:22 — A good person leaves an inheritance to future generations.
  • 2 Timothy 2:2 — Entrust teaching to faithful people able to teach others.
  • Proverbs 27:17 — “Iron sharpeneth iron.”
  • Psalm 145:4 — One generation declares God's works to another.

Council application

Leadership is measured by people developed, knowledge preserved, service rendered, and the foundation left for those who follow.

Legacy Commitment

Identify one thing to learn better, one person to mentor, one Council practice to strengthen, and one way to demonstrate Solomon-like wisdom.
