Who Was Solomon? God-Given Wisdom & Judgment

What does it mean to carry Solomon's name?

Lesson purpose: Study Solomon's gift of wisdom, judgment, character, leadership, and later warning.

Study topics

  • Solomon as son of David and Bathsheba and king of Israel.
  • His request for an understanding heart rather than riches or power.
  • The judgment of the two women and the child.
  • Wisdom as discernment, justice, and responsibility—not merely intelligence.
  • Solomon as ruler, administrator, and teacher.
  • The warning of his later years: wisdom does not remove the need for continued faithfulness.

Scripture

  • 1 Kings 3:9 — “Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people.”
  • 1 Kings 3:28 — The wisdom of God was in him to do judgment.
  • Proverbs 9:10 — “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.”

Council application

A Prince carrying Solomon's name should be known for discernment, fairness, humility, and wise judgment.

What Did Solomon Build? The Temple & Completing the Work

How does a leader turn an inherited vision into completed work?

Lesson purpose: Focus on the Temple, preparation, planning, cooperation, execution, and completion.

Study topics

  • David prepared for a work that Solomon would complete.
  • Solomon accepted responsibility for the Temple project.
  • Cooperation with Hiram of Tyre and the need for skilled people and resources.
  • The building and dedication of the First Temple in Jerusalem.
  • Order, planning, craftsmanship, and excellence.
  • Masonic significance of Solomon and the Temple.
  • The difference between having a vision and completing the work.

Scripture

  • 1 Kings 5:5 — “I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God.”
  • 1 Kings 6:14 — “So Solomon built the house, and finished it.”
  • Psalm 127:1 — “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain.”

Lesson purpose: Study the biblical philosophy and present-day organizational relationship between the Council and Palace.

  • Why the Queen of Sheba traveled to see King Solomon.
  • Her hard questions, Solomon's answers, and what she observed.
  • Respect and exchange between two accomplished leaders.
  • Wisdom does not compete with wisdom; it recognizes and learns from it.
  • The encounter as a teaching model for mutual respect and shared purpose.
  • Modern KSC/QOS hierarchy, responsibilities, boundaries, and cooperation.
  • Two departments united through one ritual.

  • 1 Kings 10:1 — She came to prove Solomon with hard questions.
  • 1 Kings 10:4 — She saw Solomon's wisdom and the house he built.
  • 1 Kings 10:9 — The king was appointed to do judgment and justice.
